Suction Accumulators are containers for storing leftover refrigerant liquid ( cold ) and are located at the entrance to the compressor suction line . Since working conditions in cooling and freezing systems may frequently change- the expansion valve mayover- inject liquid to the evaporator and it may return to the compressor and cause significant damage . Suction Accumulators would store the amount of excess fluid and ensures the compressor will suck superheated gas only. Suction Accumulators may also include a heat exchanger ( coil pipe from the fluid ), which would help evaporate the liquid stored in the Suction Accumulator and improve output of the cooling system . Suction Accumulators are pressure vessels designed and manufactured in accordance with standards from the Israel Standard 4295 . Suction Accumulators are available in different volumes and diameters, solder connections 1 \ 2 " to 31 \ 8 " and custom designs.
